Jason G. Miller

Attorney Jason G. Miller brings over 17 years of criminal law experience to his clients at Miller Berman, LLC. Prior to founding Miller Berman with the goal of being a client-centric firm, he spent 3 years with a local prominent criminal defense firm and 15 years in the Anne Arundel County prosecutors office. He has handled every type of criminal defense matter, from DUI and traffic-related matters to homicide. Having tried hundreds of criminal bench trials and dozens of criminal jury trials, Mr. Miller’s vast experience positions him well to anticipate and counter the strategies prosecutors employ at every stage of a case.

Mr. Miller’s commitment to legal education is extensive. He currently serves as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he has taught Introduction to Trial Advocacy and legal writing to first-year law students since January 2023. His teaching extends beyond the classroom to shape the next generation of individuals in the legal community.
He is certified by the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commission as an instructor in constitutional law, criminal law, search warrants, use of force, and charging documents. Mr. Miller has been a frequent instructor at:

His teaching credentials are complemented by his specialized training. In 2023, Mr. Miller was granted a certificate as a DWI detection and standardized field sobriety test instructor by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), giving him insider knowledge of the methods law enforcement uses to build DUI cases and how to challenge them. He also completed the National College for DUI Defense training on breath testing from input to verdict in 2024.

Specialized Experience in Complex Cases

Mr. Miller was born and raised by a career firefighter in Northern Virginia. He spent time as a volunteer firefighter while pursuing his bachelor’s degree in fire and safety engineering technology. For years, Mr. Miller handled all arson cases in Anne Arundel County and developed nationally recognized expertise in this field.

He has presented numerous times as a subject matter expert at the International Association of Arson Investigators, serving as lead instructor and course facilitator for their Expert Witness Courtroom Testimony Program. He has also presented to the Maryland Fire and Explosion Investigators Association and received extensive training from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in arson investigation, post-blast investigation, and advanced fire investigation techniques.

Additionally, Mr. Miller has received specialized training in:

• Computer forensics and mobile device investigations (National Computer Forensics Institute)
• Advanced cell phone investigations and records interpretation
• Child witness interviewing and preparation
• Homicide investigation (Harvard Associates in Police Science)
• Implicit bias and victim rights advocacy

This breadth of specialized knowledge makes him uniquely qualified to handle complex criminal investigations involving technical evidence, expert witnesses, and sensitive cases.
Personal

Having been in Maryland since 2005, Mr. Miller has made this area his home. He graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2009 and was also a staff editor of their flagship journal, Law Review. During law school, he competed as a member of the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law Mock Trial Team.

Mr. Miller lives in Anne Arundel County with his wife and two children. He enjoys spending time at his children’s various sporting events, hiking, running, and fishing.
